چکیده
Case presentation: Male, 8 months old, previously healthy, initiated with fever, inappetence, dystonia and axial hypotonia. Initial examination presented cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) lymphomononuclear leukocytosis proteinorrachia. Electroencephalogram (EEG) slowed base activity. Other infectious screening tests viral serology, rheumatological, neoplastic diseases, nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) imaging of the brain were standard. After exclusion main causes encephalitis, antibodies against N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (NMDA-R) identified in CSF. It evolved worsening motor respiratory, regression neuropsychomotor development (NPMD), he needed tracheostomy (TQT) gastrostomy (G-tube). Treatment, besides a front line steroids Human Immunoglobulin, six cyclophosphamide cycles starting azathioprine, remaining hospitalized for four months. Following up, at five years age, is still using weaning. He presents NPMD milestones appropriate his chronological age. There no need

Anti-NMDA-R encephalitis: follow-up of 24 months
Anti-N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (anti-NMDA-R) encephalitis is the second-most-common cause of autoimmune encephalitis, based on epidemiological studies. It has been predominantly described in young females, with prominent psychiatric symptoms, memory loss, decrease in level of consciousness, epilepsy, and central hypoventilation. The condition is commonly associated with mature ovarian terato...
متن کاملO 17: Childhood Anti-NMDA Receptor Encephalitis
Anti N-methyl-D-aspartate receptor (NMDR) encephalitis has been recognized as the most frequent autoimmune encephalitis in children after acute demyelinating encephalomyelitis (ADEM).However due to the variable the variable clinical presentation, the paucity of specific finding on standard laboratory and radiological investigation remains under recognized. First discribed in 2005, most commonly...
متن کاملAnti-NMDA Receptor Encephalitis
In recent years, the discovery of antibodies to specific neuronal antigens that then go on to cause encephalitis has gone a long way to change the investigation and management of a potential encephalitic process. These have now become known under the umbrella term of the ‘autoimmune encephalitides’. In this article we look at antiN-methyl-D-aspartate receptor encephalitis, a condition most ofte...
متن کاملAntibody titres at diagnosis and during follow-up of anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis: a retrospective study.
BACKGROUND Anti-N-methyl-d-aspartate (NMDA) receptor encephalitis is a severe but treatable autoimmune disorder which diagnosis depends on sensitive and specific antibody testing. We aimed to assess the sensitivity and specificity of serum and CSF antibody testing in patients with anti-NMDA receptor encephalitis, and the relation between titres, relapses, outcome, and epitope repertoire. METH...
